E-book Expose: Release of ‘Sarcophagus’ by Jean-Pierre Chevalier
LOS ANGELES, Calif., June 21, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — “Sarcophagus” by Jean-Pierre Chevalier (ISBN 13: 978-0-595-67678-1; ebook: ISBN 13: 978-0-595-83618-5) is now available in Kindle Edition at Amazon.com. This underground classic is a compelling literary phenomenon, read by patient advocates and would-be whistle-blowers.
In this stunning work of contemporary fiction, Chevalier has succeeded in illuminating one of the unspeakable tragedies of our age: the exploitation of illness. Rendering the depravity and misfeasance of our modern-day temples of medicine with scholarly aplomb, the gripping narrative in “Sarcophagus” chronicles the journey of an inspired physician and an intrepid biophysicist as they strive together against all odds to develop the world’s first effective targeted, injectable gene delivery system-the coveted holy grail of genetic medicine.
It is a time in history when terminal cancer patients languish on the chain of failed expectations while medical institutions, academic research centers, and giant pharmaceutical companies struggle in unison against the emerging tide of genetic medicine in a misguided effort to maintain the authority and applications of their loathsome poisonous treatments.
Written with the passion of a patient advocate and the omniscience of an astute insider, and set against the bleak and timely backdrop of true clinical pathos, “Sarcophagus” is a compelling journey of discovery and a descent into the netherworld of modern medicine as it stands poised at the threshold of history.
About the Author:
Jean-Pierre Chevalier, a leading authority on genetic medicine, is the consummate “insider,” capable of rendering the tragedies of modern medicine with scholarly aplomb. An accomplished scientist, whose pioneering work on cellular growth control led to the discovery of important cancer genes, effective modes of gene delivery, and new designer medicines, Jean-Pierre Chevalier stands alone as a transpicuous voice crying out in the wilderness, a stalwart social critic, and a patient advocate par excellence. As his life’s work ushers in the medicines of the future, his stories gleam as a treasure for the ages. The author can be contacted “indirectly” through Konrad Ventana: www.konradventana.com.

Catholic Online Selects Mobile Politics: The Most Powerful Political Tool Since The Ballot
LOS ANGELES, Calif., June 13, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Catholic Online is announcing their adoption of the new Mobile Politics application for the iPhone to share the social message of the Church. Mobile Politics is being touted as “the most powerful tool in politics since the invention of the ballot.”
One of the most exciting features of Mobile Politics is that it enables real-time polling of constituents. This is the first time such a powerful feature has been made available via a mobile application.
The application also allows politicians and advocacy organizations to receive secure contributions via a mobile platform without the need to acquire their own merchant account. This minimizes hassle and makes contributing to a candidate or cause easier than ever before. The application comes with a suite of powerful administrative tools to permit in-depth analysis of constituent feedback as well as automatic reports for easy compliance with campaign finance laws.
Additional exciting features include the ability to share news and alerts, a calendar for organizing and promoting events. Also for the first time ever politicians and advocacy organizations will get their own virtual TV channel via the app, allowing them to connect to their supporters more powerfully than ever before.
The application also enables sharing on social networks to maximize exposure.
Mobile politics will become the must-have mobile application for all advocates and political hopefuls by changing the way they listen to their constituents, collect secure contributions, and communicate with supporters.
Demonstrating its use for political causes as well as for candidates, the first client for Mobile Politics is Catholic Online, which enjoys one of the world’s largest faith-based followings on the internet.
Deacon Keith A Fournier, Editor in Chief of Catholic Online, said “Mobile Politics will change the political landscape – and just in the nick of time. There is nothing available like it today. This technology solution is now available for political application. It can also be applied in a myriad of other ways to influence, engage and transform the culture for the good.”
Tom Panuzio, President of Mobile Politics added, “We are honored to be able to assist Catholic Online with their political outreach message this election cycle. Mobile Politics was designed for campaigns and political organizations to leverage our platform and directly communicate and mobilize voters nationwide, through their iPhones.”
The application is now available from the Apple App Store for iPhones and will soon be optimized for the iPad. An Android version is also in the offing. Visit their website at http://www.imobilepolitics.com.

LOS ANGELES, Calif., April 20, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Thanks to a multi-million dollar National Emergency Grant (NEG) from the U.S. Department of Labor, the Los Angeles County Workforce Investment Board was awarded funds as part of the California Multi-Sector Workforce Partnership. The aim of this program is to provide retraining and career transition needs to individuals who experienced layoffs and also to help employers with job openings to locate well-qualified and trained employees.
We are recruiting laid-off workers for this special program that provides no-fee job training and placement assistance in high demand industries in the county that have current job openings. This program is designed to benefit employers in many ways, including reimbursement of a substantial portion of wages paid to new hires from this program.
To date, over 700 individuals have signed up to take advantage of this opportunity. Space is still available now that the deadline to enroll has been extended to June 30, 2012. Interested employers and job seekers should contact us immediately by email at neg@css.lacounty.gov or visit our website at http://www.worksourcecalifornia.com .
“The California Multi-Sector Workforce Partnership addresses 123 mass layoffs in California that have affected over 32,000 workers in 19 industries statewide,” said Richard Verches, Executive Director of the Los Angeles County Workforce Investment Board. “In Los Angeles County, we expect nearly 1,000 individuals to take advantage of job services paid for by this grant.”
This program will pay for laid-off workers to participate in On-the-Job Training, paid work experience, internships and customized training programs in order to increase their opportunities for employment, and the costs of equipment or transportation, depending upon one’s situation.
“The support of government is critical to meet the needs of and support local businesses that employ local residents,” said Mr. Verches. “Employers who participate in On-the-Job Training programs can receive recruiting support to locate well-qualified candidates and possible reimbursement for the wages of new employees.”

Jackie Fame Joins Forces with The Weinstein Company to Promote the Movie ‘Bully’
CHARLOTTE, N.C. and LOS ANGELES, Calif., April 12, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Jackie Fame, Inc. (FAME), the leading kid/teen social network www.JFame.com, is joining forces with The Weinstein Company to promote the movie “Bully.” After much debate over the rating, the PG-13 version of the anti-bullying documentary will open in 115 theaters.
FAME and the AMC Cinema chain will sponsor several “Bully Movie Events” across the country, with selected theaters offering free admission to a one-night “Bully” awareness event – with the continued goal of involving parents, students, educators, and advocates in the movement to ending bullying.
In addition, with every “Bully” ticket purchased through www.MovieTickets.com FAME will provide a free download of its book “Kid2Kid, Keepin’ it Safe Online” (ISBN: 978-0-675-50025-6) made available for the NOOK and Kindle eBook formats. “Kid2Kid” includes great advice for young people about staying safe online, and includes a chapter about preventing bullying in cyberspace and in everyday life.
“We are happy to join The Weinstein Company’s ‘Bully’ campaign to help raise awareness about the serious effects of bullying. We hope to help inspire kids from around the world to stand up to bullying,” said Zachary Swauger, age 13, FAME co-founder.
“This has always been a mission of the Jackie Fame network,” added Joshua Swauger 11, FAME co-founder. “In 2011, we launched ‘We Have the Power’ at www.WeHaveThePower.net – a grass roots awareness movement about the terrible effects of bullying on school-aged kids. We recorded an original song, produced by DJ Boom and Hip-Hop recording artist G-Money. We wrote the lyrics to express how deeply concerned we are about bullying and its effect on our peers.”
The FAME co-founders hope all school-aged kids and their parents will see “Bully” and join together in the fight to stop all forms of bullying.
About “Bully”:
Directed by Sundance and Emmy-award winning filmmaker, Lee Hirsch, “Bully” is a beautifully cinematic, character-driven documentary. At its heart are those with huge stakes in this issue whose stories each represent a different facet of America’s bullying crisis. “Bully” follows five kids and families over the course of a school year. Stories include two families who have lost children to suicide and a mother awaiting the fate of her 14-year-old daughter who has been incarcerated after bringing a gun on her school bus.
With an intimate glimpse into homes, classrooms, cafeterias and principals’ offices, the film offers insight into the often cruel world of the lives of bullied children. As teachers, administrators, kids and parents struggle to find answers, “Bully” examines the dire consequences of bullying through the testimony of strong and courageous youth. Through the power of their stories, the film aims to be a catalyst for change in the way we deal with bullying as parents, teachers, children and society as a whole.

G-Man Marketing Celebrates Decade of Hype
LOS ANGELES, Calif., April 9, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Whether you call it publicity, media relations or hype, everybody needs it and John Scott G has been providing it for a decade. “Just by visiting the Internet, you have been influenced by our work,” states the head of G-Man Marketing (www.gmanmarketing.com). “We create and publish media announcements, press alerts, video messaging, social networking communication, and what I call ghost marketing.”
The concept of “ghost marketing” is not new, G admits. “In addition to books I’ve ghost-written, some of my most effective work has been behind-the-scenes, writing or contributing to articles or in disseminating items for others to post. Clients, especially artists, don’t have time to continually look for these opportunities online, but it’s one of the things we do. It’s time-consuming, but there’s a definite payoff if you keep at it.”
Current clients of G-Man Marketing include Shady Hill Records’ country artist Sandra Piller. “This is a terrific account because of the variety of great songs Sandra performs,” G states. “She works with writer/producer Jane Bach (hits with Reba McEntire and Jo Dee Messina among others) and there are videos of Sandra doing songs by The Doors and Fleetwood Mac. Her cool country version of ‘Love Me Two Times’ is a trip!”
Within the past year, G has worked with Larisa Stow, Robin Hood Music, Golosio Publishing, Goodnight Kiss Music, Anisound Mixing/Mastering, FookMovie, Phil Hatten Design, Carnyville, Bella Swan Bass Society (BSBS), and Paula Franceschi. “We’re starting on a Christian music video for ‘Amazed by the Light that is You,’ a new area for us.”
The sounds of BSBS are in a series of humorous commercials airing during the Sheena Metal programs on the LATalkRadio network. The spots are for non-existent products called “Androyx,” like an Androyx energy drink and an Androyx phone (“Forget 3G, 4G or 5G, Androyx offers 157G!”).
G and G-Man Marketing have created work for Verizon Wireless, Goodyear, Auto Club, General Dynamics, Shakey’s Pizza, Toyota of Orange, and more. In addition, G collaborated with Doug Colosio, Scott Joss and Merle Haggard to write “Bad Actor,” a song on Haggard’s “I Am What I Am” album.
“I love spreading the word for music, products, speeches, and events,” G says. “This work is exciting and gratifying, which makes it fulfilling to start every day!”

Cash in on the Motion Picture Industry by Renting Your Vehicle, Home, Business, Boat or Equipment
LOS ANGELES, Calif., April 4, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — In an economy where people are working hard just to stay current with their bills, why not look toward the thriving Hollywood industry for extra income? Studio Find It, Inc. (www.StudioFindIt.com) offers a way for home, business, land, vehicle, heavy equipment, watercraft and aircraft owners to turn their assets into income by renting their items for cash to motion picture studios by simply registering with them online.
“A lot of people don’t realize that motion picture studios rent everything – in fact, productions are always on the lookout for new locations, picture car vehicles, background items or props that will make their series or film unique, so when they need something they typically send a scout out to find it,” said Claire Yankee, Vice-President of Studio Find It.
She adds, “Our company is an inverse approach to this process – instead of going out and looking for each item productions need to rent, we’re asking the public to come to us.”
Through a simple process of going to their website (www.StudioFindIt.com), registering for free and listing your item, you too can start making big bucks by renting your items to the motion picture industry.

USC Latino Alumni Association Honors Dr. Richard Zapanta with Legacy Award
LOS ANGELES, Calif., March 22, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — A sold-out crowd of more than 750 Trojans, USC trustees, faculty and administrators, honored guests, alumni and students gathered at The Beverly Wilshire Hotel to celebrate the 38th Annual USC Latino Alumni Scholarship Gala on March 2. Executive Director Domenika Lynch announced that the dinner raised an estimated $300,000, which through USC’s two-to-one matching program will add a total $900,000 to USC Latino Alumni Association’s scholarship fund.
Dr. Richard Zapanta was honored with the 2012 USC Latino Alumni Association Legacy Award. Erica Suzanne Silva (B.A. ’12) received the Dr. John R. Hubbard Award and Michelle Munoz (M.D. ’12) received the Dr. Edward Zapanta Outstanding Medical Student Award.
U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis (MPA 1981), surprised the audience when Ruben Smith, chair of the Corporate Advisory Council introduced her.
She said to Dr. Zapanta and his wife, Rebecca, “Finally, I have to say thank you – 14 million ‘thank yous’ – to the USC Latino Alumni Association for what you’re doing. I’m absolutely blown away to learn that this organization has raised $14 million to help Latino youth pursue their education. It’s caring folks like you who made my story possible.”
USC Trustee Frank Cruz presented Zapanta with the Legacy Award. Zapanta recalled the first scholarship dinner held at Town and Gown in 1974. “We raised $16,000 that evening and with the university matching us two-to-one, our total was $48,000,” he said. “Dr. Hubbard always said how proud he was of that decision to match our fundraising and since his passing, his legacy lives in with the annual recognition of one of our outstanding scholars.”
Dr. Zapanta earned his B.A. in psychology from USC in 1954 and completed his M.D. at the Keck School of Medicine of USC in 1973. He completed his post graduate training at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center. He has been in private practice since 1979 and is the senior partner at Eastside Orthopedic Medical Associates and Plaza Surgical Center.
Dr. Zapanta with his wife, Rebecca annually give a scholarship to a deserving Garfield High School student and sponsor a student from the Keck School of Medicine at USC of USC MedCor Summer Work Program.
His brother, the late Dr. Edward Zapanta was the first Latino appointed to the USC Board of Trustees in 1984.
“My proudest achievement is the founding of the USC Mexican American Alumni Association that now continues as the USC Latino Alumni Association,” Zapanta said. “I’m honored to have played a small role in the support and nurturing of our Latino students.”
Jovana Lara of ABC7 Eyewitness News was the mistress of ceremonies and Father Lawrence Seyer, pastor of Our Savior Parish and USC Caruso Catholic Center said the invocation.
About the USC Latino Alumni Association:
The USC Latino Alumni Association is a legacy of the USC Mexican American Alumni Association that was founded in 1973 to develop programs that provide tuition assistance grants to students attending USC who show a commitment to the Latino community. Since then, the USC Latino Alumni Association has awarded over $14 million in scholarships to more than 7,000 deserving students. For more information please visit: http://www.usc.edu/latinoalumni .

Artist Dumpster Dives Kim Kardashian, Reveals Her Trash at Upcoming L.A. Event
LOS ANGELES, Calif., March 13, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Cory Allen Contemporary Art (CACA) announces that “Fear Google” artist XVALA will be revealing the recent dumpster dived trash of Kim Kardashian, featuring the celebrity’s collapsed basketball at a roof top event in Los Angeles this weekend.
“Slammed and Dunked,” a life-size sculpture of the basketball salvaged from the celebrity’s residential trash, was partially inspired by Kardashian’s recently failed marriage to NBA player Kris Humphries and the questioned authenticity of their acclaimed nuptials.
“Many people in this country are still very concerned with marital rights – after Kim Kardashian’s mockery of marriage, why should anyone take anything she does seriously, anymore?” asks artist XVALA.
The sculpture was created out of a ‘recycled resin’ formulated from remaining leftover garbage that was also collected from the Kardashians’ trash bin. Also, a part of the collection is candid mobile phone self-portraits of the reality star that she took for Twitter and Instagram, which are backed with aluminum, also partially recycled from her personal garbage.
“By deleting everything that reveals who she really is, Kim Kardashian actually reveals her true self,” said XVALA, “You can always learn something about someone by looking at their garbage, and Kim produces a lot of garbage.”
“I agree with Jon Hamm. Kim Kardashian should refrain from making any more reality shows,” said Cory Allen. “People aren’t too entertained by divorce and failed relationships in these economically trying times.”
Dumpster diving is nothing new to the artist or the mainstream media. Late last year, XVALA invaded the residential dumpsters of Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg and Apple’s Steve Jobs, who passed away a day after the release of his personal trash. XVALA was also responsible for reconstructing celebrity Scarlett Johansson’s nude photos for his “Fear Google” campaign, posting the two hacked images all through the streets in and around the Los Angeles area as street art.
“The Kim Kardashian Party,” curated by The Site Unscene, will be held on March 17, 2012 in Los Angeles, Calif., on 1460 Naud Street, at the location’s roof top.

Long-Time Internet Company, FreeMovingQuote.com, Taking Steps to Reach More Movers than Ever
LOS ANGELES, Calif., Feb. 29, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — The moving facilitator, Free Moving Quote (FreeMovingQuote.com), has not only weathered the recession, they have found ways to thrive in this difficult environment. FreeMovingQuote.com strives to be a one-stop shop for movers looking to find moving companies both at their departure locale and their destination.
The website lets users see quotes and reviews from local companies on both ends instantly and also offers other support services like booking moving trucks or investigating storage pods and moving containers.
The recession was an acutely difficult time for moving companies. With lay-offs and depressed hiring, few customers were willing to spend money on moving costs – using their own vehicles and looking to friends when needing moving help. In addition, because it was a hirer’s hiring market, companies also have not been budgeting for relocation expenses expecting prospective workers to finance their own relocations.
In this difficult environment, FreeMovingQuote.com has managed to continue growing, recently announcing hiring of their own.
So how did they do it?
FreeMovingQuote.com looked to the same medium that got them started in the first place, the technology sector. Having started at about the same time as Google (1997), the media savvy FreeMovingQuote utilized the rise of social media to help it reach new customers.
A cornerstone in this process has been their use of Twitter and similar mediums to reach Generation Y just as they leave college and begin to work their way up the corporate ladder. By engaging with them via new media, FreeMovingQuote has made inroads into a demographic that is both very coveted and incredibly difficult to reach.
FreeMovingQuote has also made major improvements to their website to make sure that users have the optimal experience possible. They have made it much easier not only to get into contact with an actual live customer service representative, while also making their site much clearer and easier to navigate as well. They have also added additional moving pods providers to their database of national moving providers.
This is all part of a larger move by the company to ensure that it provides the best customer experience in the moving quotes niche. A push that has included the hiring of dozens of customer service reps and a general re-emphasis on training and customer satisfaction.
Now, as the recession begins to ease, FreeMovingQuote feels that it is ready to help movers begin new lives.

TSP works with students at their school over the duration of 12-14 weeks during their regularly scheduled school day for approximately 2 hours once a week to see a project from inception through delivery. Over 150 adults with intellectual challenges have been served to date and 180 loyal volunteers have committed their personal time to assist at camp. “Our vision is to continue to develop and improve the programs we offer and broaden the population we serve by offering more sessions throughout the southeast region and hopefully beyond in the future.”
4) Move For Hunger (www.moveforhunger.org) is a non-profit organization that works with moving companies across the country to pick up unwanted, unopened food from those who are relocating and deliver it to local food banks across the country. Many people throw out a good deal of “stuff” when they move.
