Dimensions OH and S announces published study results indicating the influence of workplace climate on employee well-being and health behaviors

Taylor and Francis Journal

RALEIGH, N.C., Oct. 20, 2014 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Dimensions in OH & S, Inc. announces that co-researchers Dr. Karen Mastroianni & Dr. Julia Storberg-Walker published new research findings, in the Taylor and Francis Journal, Health Psychology and Behavioral Medicine. The qualitative study, “Do Work Relationships Matter? Characteristics of Workplace Interactions That Enhance or Detract From Employee Perceptions of Well-Being & Health Behaviors,” explored the influence of workplace climate on well-being and health behaviors.

The authors noted that the qualitative approach allows for a rich and in-depth exploration of the characteristics. The study findings, based on participant shared experiences, indicated feelings of well-being were enhanced by work interactions that were trusting, collaborative, and positive, as well as when participants felt valued and respected. The shared experiences also indicated that interactions detracted from well-being and health behaviors when interactions lacked the aforementioned, and also included lack of justice and empathy.

Based on the data, the enhancing and detracting relationships generated physical health symptoms, and influenced sleep and healthy eating patterns, socializing, exercise, personal relations, careers, and energy levels. This was regardless of the availability of wellness programs at the participating companies.

The authors noted that often workplace health promotion interventions target individual employees with little or no consideration for other determining factors that impact health and health behaviors. The interventions are also primarily focused on physical health and health risk factors such as body weight, fitness, and biometric measures.

Dr. Mastroianni stated that, “The effectiveness of these initiatives have recently been called into question and in fact, many in the field are emphasizing the need for worksite wellness programs to move beyond a health risk/health cost savings model toward a more holistic approach that focuses on well-being, engagement and productivity.”

Dimensions ( http://dimensions-ohs.com/ ) has advocated that thriving, energetic and engaged employees result from attention to individual and organizational well-being. According to Dr. Mastroianni, the bottom line is that the work climate matters and workplaces need to be physically, emotionally, and psychologically safe for engagement, well-being, and healthy behaviors to flourish.

The authors summarized that this study offers business leaders with evidence supporting interventions aimed at minimizing workplace incivility and increasing positive working environments achievable through partnerships with human resource development, wellness, safety, and occupational health professionals. Interventions designed to improve employee engagement and minimize financial and human costs of negative interactions will enhance individual and organizational well-being.

Triangle Parenting Solutions Now Offering a New Class for Divorced Parents

Jennifer Viemont

RALEIGH, N.C., May 6, 2014 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE)) — Triangle Parenting Solutions today announced that it has started a new class that will give divorced parents a way to reduce the negative effects the divorce has on their children.

“Co-parenting after a divorce is not an instinctual skill so when parents separate or divorce children often suffer tremendously,” said Jennifer Viemont, LCSW and president of Triangle Parenting Solutions.

According to a recent study by the National Center for Health Statistics, 60 percent of marriages for couples between the ages of 20 and 25 end in divorce. In addition, 50 percent of all marriages in which the brides are 25 or older result in a failed marriage.

Viemont explained that, though she is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, her four-week parenting course entitled: Parenting through Divorce: Reducing the Negative Effects on Your Children is not therapy.

“The class has a skill based and solution focused curriculum. Since the sessions are private, we are able to individualize and apply the content to the parents’ specific situation,” Viemont said.

The availability of the new class for divorced parents to help with co-parenting issues could have perfect timing.

According to the Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry, teenage children of divorce are three times more likely to need psychological help within a given year.

In addition, the study concluded, children from divorced homes have more psychological problems, than children from which one of the parents has died. This is an indication that the transitions involved with divorce and solving co-parenting issues should not only be a concern, but also addressed with professional help.

Parenting through Divorce: Reducing the Negative Effects on Your Children:

Divorce, Viemont noted, enables parents to develop a completely new skill set for parenting. Viemont added that even when only one parent takes the course the children still benefit, however the most ideal situation involves both parents taking it. As a way to encourage both parents learning these skills, Viemont offers a complimentary fifth session that is complimentary when both parents sign up for the four individual class session.

As to what makes this class different from everything else on the market, Viemont pointed out that there are few if any other resources that are useful to separated parents of varying conflict levels and that is also customized to their individual circumstances.

“Sometimes people can find group classes for co-parenting, but that is not customized like mine is,” Viemont said. “My background in mental health and coaching enable me to help parents focus on the actions they can take to help their children.”

Parents who enroll into the class will become trained on topics, which include: Keeping the kids out of the middle; Handling transitions; Creating two homes; Realigning your relationship; Setting boundaries; Conflict resolution, and Anger management.

Class sessions are held at Triangle Parenting Solutions’ Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, or Cary offices or through video conference. The fee for the course is $375.

About Jennifer Viemont – Triangle Parenting Solutions:

Jennifer Viemont, LCSW, is the president of Triangle Parenting Solutions and serves as a Certified Parenting Coordinator and Parenting Consultant. She received her undergraduate degree in psychology from Loyola University Chicago and a Master of Social Work from University of Illinois at Chicago. Viemont has worked with families and children in various mental health settings and also owned a life coaching company, Deliberate Living.

New Version of DrillPoint Reports Available from Capital Business Solutions

RALEIGH, N.C., June 5, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Capital Business Solutions announced today the availability of a new release of DrillPoint Reports, a powerful report writer designed for Sage Fund Accounting (formerly Sage MIP Fund Accounting).

DrillPoint Reports Version 12.1 includes new features such as enhanced security, the ability to drill down to source records, multiple column sorts and summarize, updated drill down grid functionality, and force printing row capability.

Flexible formatting along with charts and graphs options, which are popular features of DrillPoint Reports, have been enhanced in Version 12.1. End users can use the charts and graphs to highlight key data points in easy-to-view depictions of data trends.

DrillPoint Reports’ drill down function has been enhanced to go beyond a summary grid of individual transactions and now includes the ability to view source documents such as purchase orders, invoices, requisitions, journal entries, or cash disbursements.

Report designers using DrillPoint Reports now have more control over whether a viewer of the report can change report options. The report designer can now enable or disable many run-time options in order to maintain report integrity when other staff members run reports.

“Other users within a nonprofit rely on the accounting team to provide the reports they need for the operations and projects they manage. Typically, accounting must either create reports as requested or teach department managers how to use the accounting system – which most people outside of accounting find challenging,” said Capital Business Solutions principal Robbie Pollock.

“When monthly report generation is the sole responsibility of accounting, it’s a huge burden and time drain for the staff,” Pollock explained. “With DrillPoint Reports, accounting can create report templates and make them available to other staff members to run on demand. Managers can use DrillPoint Reports, to refresh or rerun their reports with the most recent data, in real time, and access supporting transaction details with just a few clicks.”

Capital Business Solutions is a recognized leader in providing integrated financial software solutions and professional services purpose-built for the nonprofit and public sector. An authorized reseller of Sage Fund Accounting (formerly MIP), Sage Fundraising 50, Sage Abra, and Serenic Navigator, Capital Business Solutions also offers expert training and consulting services on all Blackbaud products. Capital Business Solutions has successfully implemented more than 500 clients in its 10 years of operation.

Massey Consulting Develops DynamicsConnect Integration between Microsoft Dynamics and Connectwise PSA

RALEIGH, N.C., March 27, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Massey Consulting (www.masseyconsulting.net), specializing in financial accounting implementation, sales and support, announced the availability of DynamicsConnect (www.dynamicsconnect.com). DynamicsConnect was developed to allow companies using systems like Microsoft Dynamics GP and Connectwise PSA to share key data between the ERP system and Professional Services Automation system.

“Without DynamicsConnect, system users would have to manually import and export data from each system in order to synchronize and share information between the accounting, sales, invoicing, order processing, receivables and inventory functions,” said Philip Massey, CPA, president of Massey Consulting. “DynamicsConnect simplifies and automates these processes making information readily available and decreasing the possibility for errors that occur as a result of manual re-keying of data.”

DynamicsConnect automates the exchange and visibility of key business data between the businesses ERP/accounting system and the professional services automation system. From the scheduling of a project to the invoicing of a project, all departments involved know the precise status of an account. Automating the flow and exchange of information from one system to the other, saves countless hours of manual work, resulting in quicker billing that leads to quicker payment and improved cash flow.

“By using DynamicsConnect, the business will see improvements throughout the organization including sales, accounting, inventory, and collections as well as having a better, more complete view of customer and vendor records,” said Massey. “So often when it comes to inventory levels or sales forecasting, people are making their best guess. It’s hard to run a profitable business without accurate information; and DynamicsConnect removes the guess work.”
