Book ‘The Artist’s Guide to Success in the Music Business’ has put in busy two months since release, from NAMM2014 to MMC18

Music Business LOS ANGELES, Calif., Jan. 30, 2014 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — A new book, “The Artist’s Guide to Success in the Music Business” (ISBN: 978-1608325788; Greenleaf Book Group Press) by Loren Weisman is now available in 26 different countries as well as an eBook edition (ISBN: 978-1608325795). The book delivers the “who, what, when, where, why, and how” of the steps musicians and bands have to take to succeed in music.

Written by music business consultant Loren Weisman, “The Artist’s Guide” provides a roadmap for the artist’s journey from passion to profession. The foreword was written by session guitarist, producer and writer Elliot Randall of Steely Dan, Doobie Brothers and Saturday Night Live fame.

“It’s not about the amount of time you put in, it is the way you spend the time on the work you need to get done. My goal for the book was to give people the ideas and methods that they can apply to be as productive as possible with as many aspects of the business as possible,” says Weisman.

Currently on the road, Loren and the book stopped by NAMM 2014 in Anaheim, this past weekend and will visit 6 states in February including the Millennium Music Conference in Pennsylvania and then head over the border to some stops in Canada.

To quote a review from John G Scott on PublishersNewswire.com – “Of all the valuable points to be made about ‘The Artist’s Guide,’ let me especially praise the lists of questions and considerations that appear in almost every section. These can be of immense help for anyone faced with decisions on recording better songs, finding a manager or publisher, running a band, working with a songwriting partner, and creating marketing materials. There is a nice feel to the book – in urging you to ask these questions of yourself, Weisman seems to be coming from a good place.”

In the book Weisman writes: I do not claim to have all the answers, but I do know you must take a hard, cold look at yourself, your music, your band, and what you are doing, while assessing those things you might need to change and those things that should remain the same. “This book will help you accomplish that,” said John Scott G in his review.

As a music business consultant and speaker, Weisman works to help independent artists, musicians, bands, labels and businesses achieve sustainable success. Weisman is also the Spokesperson for the Musicians Community Artists Bridge – in its first phase of launch: http://artistsbridge.com/ .

Mastering Social Media Strategy for Business Explained in Book by Digital Marketing Pioneer

Author Stephen Monaco KANSAS CITY, Mo., Dec. 19, 2013 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — “Insightful Knowledge: An Enlightened View of Social Media Strategy & Marketing” (ISBN: 978-1937829636), written by digital marketing pioneer Stephen Monaco, provides marketers and executives with the practical information they need on social initiatives required for companies long term survival.

In the late 1980s, Monaco began engaging consumers directly online to learn what consumers wanted and found valuable. He used strategies and tactics that are now considered best practices for social marketing – and built a global software brand in the process. His book is packed with indispensable information about how brands must evolve to engage with consumers directly and it provides a clear guide how to build deep, long-term relations with customers across multiple platforms.

Stephen Monaco has a clear understanding of how businesses are challenged by consumers’ rapid adoption of social media. So many people claim to be social experts, but very few offer wisdom based on their success to help put companies on the right track. Monaco’s book is an invaluable guide for those who want to understand how social media evolved to where it is today, and how to utilize the medium for maximum effectiveness.

When interviewed about what inspired him to write a business book Monaco said, “Working with publicly traded corporations, startups, and companies of all sizes in between, I saw the majority of them going the wrong way with their social marketing efforts, and I knew that my expertise could help a lot of people. That’s when I knew it was time to write my book on social strategy and marketing.”

“Most companies start social campaigns with tactics, and that’s a huge mistake,” said Monaco. “It’s imperative for companies to start with strategies and tie social media initiatives directly to specific organizational objectives, but that isn’t intuitive to most marketing and communications professionals, or executives,” he continued.

Beyond Diversity Resource Center Responds to President’s Call for National Conversations on Race

Anti-Racist Cookbook MOUNT LAUREL, N.J., Sept. 18, 2013 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — The Beyond Diversity Resource Center announces the publication of a supplement to its book on racial dialogue in America, “The Anti-Racist Cookbook” (ISBN: 978-0971901766).

“After George Zimmerman was found not guilty of manslaughter charges in the killing of Trayvon Martin, President Obama asked Americans to have thoughtful conversations about race and its impact on our lives,” noted Robin Parker, the executive director of the Beyond Diversity Resource Center. “In response, the Center thought it was important to offer supplemental questions to our 2005 publication, ‘The Anti-Racist Cookbook: A Recipe Guide for Conversations about Race That Goes beyond Covered Dishes and Kum-Bah-Ya.’ The questions in the Supplement focus on implicit bias and personal safety, two areas where racial dialogue is especially needed.”

The introduction to the supplement states, “Today, people of color have less to fear from the overt actions of a Ku-Klux-Klan lynch mob than from the implicit bias of a gun-carrying member of a neighborhood watch. Yet, the result may be the same.”

In 2005, the Center published “The Anti-Racist Cookbook” to inspire ordinary people in their communities to have conversations about race in America.

But Parker says conversations about race may be even more necessary now than they were when the book was published: “We’ve made progress on race, but racial issues still fester today. From Imus’ shocking comment about the Rutgers women’s basketball team to Riley Cooper’s and Michael Richards’ use of the N-word, we seem to be experiencing a time when individuals feel justified in making negative racial comments and blaming any damage those comments cause on people who are ‘too sensitive’ or who ‘take the comments the wrong way.’”

According to Parker, these acts are examples of what happens when implicit bias-the unconscious bias people have-comes to the surface, often at times of anger, frustration and fear. Implicit bias, if unaddressed, can be as damaging as overt acts of racism.

“We saw implicit bias played out when the ‘dangerous-young-black-man-wearing-a-hoodie’ stereotype came to national attention after the shooting of Trayvon Martin,” Parker remarked. “Studies like the Harvard’s ‘Project Implicit’ show that Americans have implicit biases against blacks and other marginalized groups. Because the Trayvon Martin incident shows how implicit bias can have fatal consequences, many people of color-especially young people of color-feel unsafe. We need to have dialogue among ordinary people to begin to heal these problems.”

The 2013 Supplement asks questions about current racial issues that include: (1) how people can address their own racial biases, (2) what organizations can do to combat implicit bias, (3) whether people feel safe in light of recent racial incidents, and (4) how we should craft solutions for racial healing. The supplement is now available to people who order “The Anti-Racist Cookbook” from the publisher, Crandall, Dostie & Douglass Books.

Writing Students Replace Fear with Fun in Revamped Workshop Curriculum

Fear of Writing SANTA FE, N.M., July 8, 2013 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Dragon’s Gate Creative Journeys, an experiential workshop service for writers led by Milli Thornton, author of “Fear of Writing,” today announced the third edition of the Fear of Writing Clinic Student Workbook. The workbook has been used since 2005 to help students at the Fear of Writing Clinic overcome deep-seated fears, allowing workshop participants to write more spontaneously and with less self-censure.

The professionally printed spiral-bound workbook, which started in 2001 as handouts printed on colored paper and carried home in manila folders, has evolved through two previous editions. The third edition includes three new writing exercises, a tighter format to allow more writing time during the workshop and four sections that can be used by students at home to continue the writing momentum.

“The workbook allows me to be less of a talking head and more of a human trigger,” Thornton said. “My role as workshop presenter is to lead students to the treasures lurking in the imagination, and to provide exercises that make the writing fun. The workbook provides ample space for writing the old-fashioned way: with pencil or pen. It also serves as a record of the emotional and creative milestones experienced at the workshop.”

The Fear of Writing Clinic is held in intimate settings, typically the back room in a coffeehouse or the living room of a private home, in order to put writers and closet writers at ease. In between writing sessions, students are encouraged to read their work out loud to the group, after absorbing simple ground rules about safe environment.

“No one needs to fear a critique,” Thornton said. “The Fear of Writing Clinic is a safe place where writers can share their fears and learn how to turn the fear into fun with creative tips from the presenter and support from the group.”

“I’m still so amazed at how the Fear of Writing method works for me,” Sandy Schairer, a writer from Albuquerque, told Milli by email. “I can write creatively and leave my stuffy old left brain out of it!”

The Fear of Writing Clinic runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with lunch and English afternoon tea provided by Chef Matthew Lauck. Tuition is $165, which includes a copy of “Fear of Writing” and a 57-page student workbook. The next Fear of Writing Clinic will be held on July 20, 2013 at a private home in Santa Fe.

The individual editions are bound by hand by a bookbinder. The title, author and/or personal dedications are hand embossed on the cover and spine using a traditional stamp or else printed digitally. Book Guardianships

Carlos Zafón”s novel The Shadow of the Wind inspired a dream and a vision. All of the “adopted” books in the library of forgotten books in the Calle Arco del Teatro are immortalized and thus able to go on speaking to the people”s hearts. Based on Zafón”s idea, every CALLE ARCO customers can take on a guardianship for out of print books that they would like to see “brought back to life”- irrespective of who holds the “special print edition rights”. Written in an instructional, how-to format, Equinomics 101 reveals what records matter to accountants and the IRS.

The book and software have been very popular in the commercial market place and last year Equinomics 101 was converted into an accredited college course that is now being taught in many leading colleges and universities. Because of today’s busy schedules, most people don’t have ample spare time to read.

By popular request, Equinomics 101 has now been converted into an audio book version for smartphones and CDs and is being released today. The audible book contains 15 chapters of conceptual subject matter that is great for listening to and 5 technical chapters that contain forms and graphs that can be easily accessed through the Equinomics 101 website.

Read by Terry Rose, the 6-CD audio book is informative and easy to listen to and quite enjoyable. The listener will come away with many valuable ideas that can immediately be used in their equine operation.

“Most horse owners practice ‘pitchfork accounting,’” Dicks explained. “They throw everything in a box and hand it over to their CPA. Equinomics 101 is designed to help customers change these destructive financial patterns.” The audio book is designed for horse owners but the information and concepts are also useful for anyone with cattle, alpacas, goats, and other livestock.

According to Dicks, the key to avoiding financial loss is to run the horse operation like a business. Equinomics 101 instructs horse owners on how to minimize hobby-loss.

“Like a good saddle, it’s a tool that no horseman should be without,” Dicks said.

In 2005, the American Horse Council conducted a study that dispelled the misperception that the horse industry is an activity reserved for the wealthy. The horse industry is, in fact, a diverse activity with stakeholders including recreational and show horse riders, and moderate-income track, show and stable employees and volunteers.

Approximately 34 percent of horse owners have a household income of less than $50,000; 28 percent exceed $100,000. 46 percent of horse owners have an income between $25,000 and $75,000.

Equinomics 101 can also be used as a simple record and bookkeeping system, a check register system, or an easy-to-use contact management system. In addition, it also addresses barter and like-kind exchange, equine tax issues, depreciation, and investment analysis.

Sales of Award Winning Text ‘Construction Project Management – a Managerial Approach’ Increase 400 Percent

Pareto Building ImprovementCHICAGO, Ill., Feb. 27, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Sales of the textbook “Construction Project Management – a Managerial Approach” (ISBN: 978-0-9799969-1-7) by Pareto Publishing, have increased 400 percent each semester since publication in December 2010. The text is now increasingly used in United States 2-year, 4-year and graduate university construction management, architecture and real estate programs.

Winning the Axion Business Book, Indie Next Generation, and International Best Book Awards, it has also become popular with construction industry practitioners and is now in library collections worldwide.

Demanding building owners have learned that simply soliciting multiple bids is no longer enough to achieve the results they seek-a paradigm shift to integrated project delivery is needed. This text uniquely provides this integration of construction management, project management and business management to enable a quantum leap in construction project quality, productivity and cost control-producing a competitive advantage essential in the now challenging United States construction market.

And it is the first to integrate the Project Management Institute’s PMBOK® methodology into construction. The United States manufacturing, power production, and energy distribution owners increasingly value and demand this integration. And all construction sectors in some areas outside the United States, particularly the Middle East, demand this methodology and require the PMP (Project Management Professional) certification credential for new employees. In the United States, the federal government GSA (General Services Administration) agency also makes the PMP credential preferred for new construction related employees – which can make it a de facto requirement in a competitive employment environment.

In this challenging U.S. commercial and residential construction employment market for graduating construction management students, many question the cost-benefit relationship of an increasingly costly university education.

This text, authored by JF McCarthy MBA CFM PMP a 40-year construction veteran, provides real world perspective and skills to make the graduating students work ready – to win their first job and excel throughout their career. And it provides exactly the skills that the power generation and energy constructions sectors, which have already rebounded and are now aggressively hiring, increasingly demand.

University adoptions and presales sales for the summer and fall of 2012 will continue the present text sales increase. With these continued increases “Construction Project Management – A Managerial Approach” will achieve a dominant share of the construction management academic market within 2-3 years.
